25 | On October 8, 2025, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Darnella Barnes conducted an unannounced Case Management Inspection in response to a request for an increase in capacity. LPA met with Desiree Valdez, LPA explained the purpose of the visit, and was granted full access to the home.
The licensee plans to operate a Large Family Child Care Home, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, serving children ages 0–12. Fire clearance was granted on September 24, 2025. Notations by Fire Department include shed not approved for use, maintain smoke detectors in home and to maintain facility's fire extinguisher annually. LPA toured the indoor areas. The home was clean, safe, and appropriately furnished. Off-limit areas include three bedrooms, master bathroom and kitchen. LPA observed a fully charged 2A-10-BC fire extinguisher last serviced on 4/21/25, functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and working phone. Cleaning products, sharp objects, and other similar items are stored inaccessible to children. LPA observed sufficient toys, supplies, and equipment for the day care children The outdoor area was securely fenced with an off-limit areas including shed, back of shed and carport. No bodies of water were present. Licensee acknowledges no smoking is allowed. Licensee stated there are no firearms or ammunition in the home.
Infant sleep areas had no loose items. Safe sleep requirements, including nap checks and Individual Infant Sleeping Plans (LIC 9227), were reviewed. Use of prohibited infant equipment was discussed. LPA reminded licensee to check for recalled infant products at CPSC.gov. Children showing signs of illness must be isolated until picked up.
