32 | LPA interviewed nine (9) residents. Five (5) of the (9) residents stated they do not feel neglected by staff, while four (4) of the (9) residents reported occasional neglected, noting that some caregivers provide better care than others and that staff appear overworked and understaffed.
The LPA also interviewed four (4) staff members. All staff denied neglecting residents. One staff member acknowledged being short-staffed at times, which can result in multiple call lights being activated simultaneously and residents waiting longer for assistance. Staff further reported that R1 often delays calling for help and attempts to ambulate independently, which sometimes results in not reaching the restroom in time.
Based on observation, record review, and interviews; there is insufficient evidence to determine facility staff neglected resident in care. Therefore, the allegation above is Unsubstantiated.
An Unsubstantiated complaint means, that although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation did or did not occur. An exit interview was conducted with Administrator Melanie Niez and a copy of this report was provided at the conclusion of the visit.
