25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Javina George arrived at the facility unannounced to conduct health and safety check. LPA George conducted a tour of the interior and exterior of the facility. Administrator arrived 15 minutes after LPA's arrival. Upon arrival LPA observed for the facility to have a hot temperature. LPA inquired if the air conditioning was working. Staff Replied "Yes", and turned it on. The temperature reading was 79 degrees F. LPA discussed that the facility should be at a comfortable temperature, at minimum 75 degrees.
There was adequate staff to provide for the residents in care. Four resident's were in the family room watching TV and or napping. With one Resident being inside of their room watching TV. All resident's were well groomed, and the ones not napping greeted LPA with a smile. LPA reviewed all resident files and conducted interviews with 3 of the 5 resident's. At that time of interviews there were no concerns reported.
The facility is stocked with a 2 day supply of perishables and a 7 day supply of non-perishable food items. However, LPA observed two expired jugs of milk, one expired on 5/4/21, and the other on 5/10/21. A new milk jug was brought in with an expiration date of 5/27/21. The expired milk jugs were disposed of with LPA present.
LPA observed in the refrigerator an insulin pen on the side of the door. Administrator disposed of the insulin pen and stated that "the resident was deceased and the family was supposed to come and pick it up but never did". The insulin was disposed of with LPA present. LPA discussed about the need to have medication stored separately from the food. Licensee's agreed to purchased a lock box, and a pad lock for medication that requires refrigeration.
There were not any deficiencies cited as the issues were corrected at the time of LPA's visit.
An exit interview was conducted and a copy of this report to Administrator Robert Rogovin. |
