25 | On August 19, 2024, at 12:40 p.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Zirbes met with Facility Representative Jeanette Smiler and Licensee Paris Curtis for the Annual/Random inspection. Upon arrival, LPA observed five preschool age children in care with Facility Representative Jeanette Smiler providing supervision. Based on LPA observation, the child care was meeting the staffing/ratio requirements at the time of this inspection. Licensee arrived to the home about a half an hour after LPA. According to the Licensee currently living in the home is the Licensee, and one adult. All adults are associated and have eligible clearances. Current days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday 6:00 am to 6:00pm.
Physical Plant:
This is an single story house with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, dining area, living room, detached garage, front and backyard. Per Licensee the living room, dining area, kitchen, one bathroom (located in the hallway), two bedrooms (#2 and #3) and backyard are utilized for childcare activities. The off-limits areas consist of two bedrooms (Master bedroom and bedroom #4), the bathroom within master bedroom and the garage. The off limits areas were inaccessible via locked doors.
The home was inspected inside and out for safety, comfort, cleanliness, telephone service, heating and ventilation, inaccessibility to poisons, detergents/cleaning compounds, medicines and hazardous items that can pose a danger to children. During the inspection, LPA observed cleaning products and household medications were stored in a high inaccessible kitchen cabinet. Per Licensee, cleaning products are also stored in the garage. At this, zero medications were being provided to the child care children. Knives and sharp items were stored a high inaccessible kitchen cabinet. LPA observed a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector in the home. The home has central heating and air conditioning. The home does not have a fire place. LPA did not observe baby bouncers/saucer chairs, or any recalled and or prohibited toys on the premises. Per Licensee, there are zero firearms or weapons stored in the family child care. At the time of this inspection, the exit doors of the Large Family child care were not single action. A technical advisory notice was issued.
