Physical Plant: LPA toured and inspected the preschool classrooms, noting that the furniture and equipment are age-appropriate and in good repair. All rooms were clean and safe. The facility’s telephone service was confirmed, and heating, lighting, and ventilation were found to be adequate. Cubbies labeled with children's names were available for storing personal belongings. Age-appropriate toys and materials were observed, and each classroom had a visible daily activity schedule. Since this is a half-day program, no napping equipment is required. Drinking water is provided in the classrooms through disposable plastic cups and water jugs. The facility also has a fire extinguisher (last checked on June 12, 2024), a smoke detector, and a carbon monoxide detector.

LPA inspected and observed one clean bathroom, noting that all toilets and sinks were sanitary and operational. The toilets and sinks functioned properly and were age-appropriate. Soap, toilet paper, and paper towels were readily available.

Children undergo a wellness check for illnesses upon arrival. A review of the medication policy revealed that prescription medication is administered only with the parent's written consent. The Director and other administrative staff are responsible for administering medication, which is logged with the dosage, date, and time. Medication is securely stored and locked at the school office unless a parent requests a daily return. All medication is appropriately labeled and kept in its original container until expiration; at this point, it is sent home with the parent for disposal. Currently, there is a child in care with IMS needs.

The teacher's work area serves as a space for isolating and caring for ill children, with a mat available for resting. In the restroom, an isolated toilet and sink are accessible for ill children. A Fire Drill/Earthquake log is posted in the classroom, and the center has conducted disaster drills within the last six months (on 8/23/2023). A current roster is also available.

Lead Testing: According to the director, the center had its drinking water tested for lead contamination levels in February 2023.

Parent Board: The parent board was reviewed and contains all the required forms. Fire and earthquake drills are current. Sign-in and sign-out sheets were also reviewed. The teacher-to-child ratio was observed, and staff names were recorded. Care and supervision were evaluated to ensure the children's basic needs were met.

Staff and Children Records: Staff and children's records were reviewed. LPA verified that at least one staff member present has current CPR and First Aid training. Two staff members must complete the Mandated Reporter training, which is required every two years. All staff members have received vaccinations for Measles, Pertussis, and Influenza. Additionally, all staff have completed the fingerprinting necessary associated with the facility. PA reviewed the records of five children, all of which were complete and included the parent’s signature. Staffing Ratio and Capacity: Upon arrival, LPA observed one classroom in use with a total of 11 preschool children, one teacher, and two assistants present.

Food Service: The school cafeteria provides all food. The facility offers both AM and PM snacks. Allergy lists are posted in the classroom (though none are present now). Chemicals are stored separately from food, locked and inaccessible in classroom cabinets. Menus are posted at least one week in advance and are available for parents to review.
