32 | Licensee and staff both deny that the facility does not use car seats for day care children while traveling. Statements corroborate the facility does on occasion transport children and that appropriate car seats are always used. At time of visit LPA observed 5 children in care. In addition, LPA observed a car seat fit for an infant as well as 4 additional booster/car seats. Licensee stated that not all the children would be transported as 2 of the children were siblings and they were dropped off by their parents/guardians and would be picked up. Licensee stated children would be dropped off later in the evening utilizing their staff’s van and car seats available.
In regard to Licensee slaps daycare children, Licensee and Staff both deny that children are slapped at the facility. Statements made corroborate that the facility utilizes verbal redirection when necessary. If children are misbehaving, they will be separated from others for a brief time, 3-5 minutes and spoken too about their behavior before they can rejoin the rest of the children. LPA was unable to interview the children in care due to their ages and ability to speak and answer questions.
There was conflicting information received during the investigation from what was alleged. This agency has investigated the complaint alleging Licensee does not use car seats for daycare children when traveling and Licensee slaps daycare children. Although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation did or did not occur, therefore the allegation is UNSUBSTANTIATED.
