During previous visits to the facility, LPA did not observe staff yell at day care children. Interviews conducted disclosed staff use positive discipline and redirection when handling challenging behaviors, including talking with the child and providing alternative activities. Information obtained revealed that staff raise their voice and speak loudly when engaging with day care children or trying to get their attention, such as reading to the class or transitioning in and out of classrooms. Interviews conducted did not disclose sufficient information that was evident to support the allegation that staff yell at day care children.
Based on observations made at the facility and information obtained during interviews, it is determined that the allegation could not be substantiated or dismissed. Although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation did or did not occur; therefore, the allegation is UNSUBSTANTIATED.
An exit interview was conducted and report was reviewed with the director, Adam Thewes. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. |
