25 | On March 21, 2024 at 2:20 p.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Zirbes met with Licensee Yamileth Mendoza who guided analyst on a tour of the home for a Annual/Random inspection. This is single story home with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room, laundry room, front/backyard and detached garage. Per Licensee the living room, dining room, hallway bathroom, and backyard are utilized for the family child care activities. Per licensee off-limit areas of the home are all three bedrooms, the bathroom located in the primary bedroom, the laundry room, kitchen, detached garage, front yard and a portion of the backyard. When LPA arrived, the child safety gate preventing children from accessing the off limit kitchen was missing, therefore the kitchen was accessible to the children in care. LPA toured the kitchen, no safety hazards were present. LPA reminded the Licensee that all off limit area must remain inaccessible to the children in care. LPA and Licensee discussed the process for making the kitchen an on limit area. All other off limit spaces were inaccessible via key locked door knobs and child safety covers on the door knobs. Upon arrival, LPA observed seven children in care (six preschool age and one school age) with the Licensee providing supervision. Currently living in the home are the Licensee, three adult household members and one minor child. All adults are associated and have eligible clearances. Current days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 4:30pm.
Physical Plant: The home was inspected inside and out for safety, comfort, cleanliness, telephone service, heating and ventilation, inaccessibility to poisons, detergents/cleaning compounds, medicines and hazardous items that can pose a danger to children. Per conversation with the Licensee, all cleaning products are stored in the off limits laundry room. Household medications are stored in the kitchen in a locked cabinet. The fire extinguisher was serviced in March 2024. Safe and age appropriate toys, play equipment and materials were present. LPA observed the pull down fire alarm, smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector in the home. The home has heating and air conditioning and was a comfortable temperature at the time of this inspection. There is one fireplace located in the living room. A storage container was placed in front of the fireplace therefore the fire place was inaccessible to the children in care. Report continued on page |
