in operable conditions (tested at 11:24 A.M. and 11:33 A.M.). The facility has a 3-A:40-B:C type of fire extinguisher. Licensee stated that she owns no firearms, and no one smokes in the facility. Per licensee, the children pass through the kitchen (off-limits) when using the bathroom. LPA observed cleaning compounds are stored inside the locked kitchen pantry (off-limits). Knives and medications are also stored inside the kitchen pantry. Per licensee, no medications are currently being provided to current children in care. Licensee stated that she is not a member of the food program, but the licensee provides meals and snacks.The facility is a two-story house, and a child safety iron gate blocks the entrance upstairs. There is a fireplace in the facility, and it is covered with a whiteboard. The home has central heating and air conditioning units.LPA observed safe and age-appropriate toys, blocks, tables, chairs, kitchen set toys, toy house, cubbies, puzzles, shapes, numbers, alphabets, small couch, and other toys in the facility. LPA also observed sleeping cots and cribs. Licensee has first aid kit box stored in the kitchen pantry. LPA observed electrical outlets are covered with child safety covers. LPA observed a small aquarium (16” X 8.5” X 11”) placed on the kitchen countertop.
Bathroom: Toilet and sink were clean and operable. LPA observed a step stool and a trash bin inside the bathroom. LPA did not observe razors and/or sharp objects, shampoos, mouthwash, medications, perfumes, air freshener, nail polish and nail remover that will pose a health and safety risk to children in care. LPA observed the medicine cabinet is empty. LPA also observed tissue paper, hand soap, and a potty-training seat inside the lower bathroom cabinet.
Licensee stated that when a child shows signs of illness, the child is separated and has the child sit on a wooden chair beside the covered fireplace. The parents are then called by the licensee to pick up the child. LPA also observe cats in the facility. Licensee stated that licensee have four cats and two dogs. Licensee showed the copies of the cats and dog’s vaccinations.
Outdoor: Licensee stated that there is no body of water on the premises. LPA did not observe body of water on the premises. Licensee’s spouse toured the LPA in the backyard. LPA also observes caterpillar tunnel, 3 sand boxes, climber, saucer swing set for little children, seesaw, and other play equipment. Licensee was advised to empty the sand boxes that contain water.
At the time of inspection, Licensee is aware of the requirement to report unusual incidents and/or injuries to the parent/guardian and Licensing on the day of the incident and/or 24 hours of incident by telephone, fax and/or in writing to the Department. Licensee is familiar with the Unusual Incident Report form, LIC624B. The |
