25 | On February 6, 2025, at 10:50 am, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Zirbes and Cha conducted an unannounced case management inspection. LPAs met with facility representative Brea Reid and expressed the purpose of the inspection. At the time of this inspection there were a total of 27 preschool age children, with four teachers and two Administrative/support staff on site.
At approximately 11:00am, LPAs conducted a safety tour. LPAs observed the door leading to the kitchen and the door leading to school age classroom and staff lounge were open.
LPAs toured the kitchen and observed a bottle of Raid, Hand Soap, two bottles of Comet, Detergent, glass cleaner and other cleaning products located in the cabinet under the kitchen sink. The cabinet was not equipped with a locking mechanism. LPAs also observed four knives and two pairs of scissors in a kitchen drawer. The drawer containing the knives and scissors was not equipped with a locking mechanism. Therefore the sharp items were accessible to the children. LPA's observed, Staff 1 (S1) in the kitchen initially however S1 stepped out of the kitchen and left the door open. Therefore the cleaning products, poisons and knives and scissors were accessible to the children in care. 15 preschool age children were observed approximately 38.5 feet away from the kitchen. The children were under the supervision of a teacher the entire time. Therefore the items in the kitchen were a potential risk to the health, safety and personal rights of the children in care.
The staff restroom is located in the staff lounge, as mentioned above the door leading to this area was open. LPA observed two bottles of Clorox Bleach cleaner on the washing machine in the staff restroom. In the restroom there was a unlocked cabinet with bleach, adhesive spray and additional cleaning products. The door leading to the staff restroom was closed however was not locked. A barrier was not present which prevented the children from accessing this area. This area was approximately 80 feet from the classroom where the children were present and under the supervision of a teacher.
