On 04/23/2024 at 10:30am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Selina Siao conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection for an increase in capacity. Upon arrival, LPA met with Director Dana Trowbridge and conducted a tour of the current licensed areas to gather census. Applicant is requesting to be licensed for 71 children which includes 16 toddlers ages 18 to 36 months in classrooms #1- #3 and 55 preschool children ages 2.5 to kindergarten in classrooms #4 - #8. Hours of operation is Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Present during today’s inspection were 36 children with 4 staff members within the five licensed classrooms. Appropriate ratios and supervision were observed. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPA informed Director that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities.

LPA continued to tour the facility and measured new additional indoor and outdoor activity space that is located at another side of the property that was newly build. Total indoor activity space measured to be 680.47 square feet for the three toddler classrooms #1-#3 and the preschool classrooms #4-#8 measured to be 2180.49 square feet, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 71 Children. LPA observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cots, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via the drinking fountains that are located in each classroom. There are 7 sinks and 4 toilets available for the toddlers and 11 sinks and 6 toilets available for the preschool children. These are sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 71 children. LPA observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. Fire clearance was granted on 03/28/2024.

The facility currently has a fully fenced playground area. Fencing is with brick walls, and wrought iron that is at least four feet high. The total square footage for the preschool outdoor area measured to be 5007.67 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate the requested preschool capacity. The toddler outdoor area measured to be 788.72 square feet, which is only sufficient for 10 children at one time. A playground waiver to share the playground at different times in the AM and PM due to limited square footage shall be submitted and approved prior to licensure. Shade is provided via the Sunshade Sail at the toddler playground and the preschool playground shade is provided via the preschool building as shade, tree, and Sunshade Sail. There are sufficient outdoor age-appropriate toys and play equipment that will be brought over from the existing playground to the new playground for the children. There is a boat on the preschool playground for the preschool which is properly anchored. There is adequate cushioning in fall zones of climber provided by sand. Drinking water is available via the drinking fountains. LPA observed all hazardous items on the playground to be inaccessible to children. Director was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing.

The following corrections are needed prior to issuing the capacity increase:



· Director submitted an outdoor playground waiver request for the toddler playground today. Outdoor waiver approval is needed prior to the approval of the capacity increase.
· Submit an updated application that reflects the correct age of the preschool children to be 2 to Kindergarten. The application must be signed by the licensee representative.

Director understands that all proof of corrections must be provided to the Department within 30 days, or the application may be denied.
