25 | On 7/6/2023 @ 9:40 a.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Joelle Redding, made an unannounced visit to inspect Room 108 for a Toddler Option program. Fire clearance was received on 7/5/2023. The facility will be decreasing capacity of the preschool children by 12 to incorporate 12 children, ages 18 to 36 months.
LPA inspected the room. As there have been no structural changes, prior measurements were verified to accommodate the facility's requested capacity of 12 in this room. No hazards were noted and age appropriate furnishings, play items and equipment were in place. Director and LPA discussed carpet tape to ensure the corners and edges of the rugs are secure to prevent tripping. Toddler Option regulations were discussed to include required Needs and Services plans for children between 18 and 24 months and the teacher/child ratio of 1:6. The facility understands that the Toddler Option program may not commingle with the preschool children, inside or out.
LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with the Director and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed Director of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Sample sleep log was provided today.
The facility has submitted a waiver requesting the toddler share the preschool playground at staggered times. Upon review and approval of the waiver and conditions, the request for the addition of a Toddler Option for 12 children, ages 18 to 36 months will be granted |
