During the investigation, the facility was briefly toured, records were reviewed, and interviews were conducted with staff and residents. It was alleged that staff do not administer resident #1(R1) medication as prescribed. R1 has a diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes as well as hypertension. Staff interviews and records revealed that the facility is consistently performing blood glucose checks and administering insulin based on the results, in accordance with the physician's orders. Review of R1's medical records and staff interviews confirmed that glucose monitoring and medication administration are occurring routinely. R1 revealed during the interview that staff either conduct glucose checks at the nurses' station or come directly to them if needed. However, multiple staff interviews indicate that R1 has demonstrated inconsistent compliance with dietary recommendations, which may contribute to the elevated glucose levels.
The Department has investigated the above-mentioned allegation and based on interviews and records review, the preponderance of the evidence has not been met, therefore, this allegation is deemed UNSUBSTANTIATED.
