25 | On 6/12/2023 @ 8:10AM, LPA Nancy Diaz conducted an unannounced inspection. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted facility entry by the Licensee, Laura Felix. A tour of the home was conducted with Ms. Felix. Also present today were Alma Felix (co-licensee) and Maricela Felix. There were three children present today.
Licensees submitted an application for an increase of capacity on 5/17/23. The San Diego Fire Prevention Bureau completed their inspection and approved the capacity for a large family child care on 6/7/2023. The following areas are accessible to children living room, dining, kitchen, family room, bedroom #1 & #2, hallway bathroom and front fenced yard. Off-limits are bedroom #3 and back fenced yard. Ms. Felix is currently constructing "play house" in the back yard. Ms. Felix will notify the department once the construction is completed. Ms. Felix was reminded that children are to be visually supervised when playing in the play houses (because of blind spots that requires supervision). Facility operates Monday-Friday; 8AM to 6PM. The licensees were present in the home to ensure that all children are supervised at all times. Facility is within capacity and did not exceed the capacity specified on the license.
There were no bodies of water observed within the premises. Ms. Felix stated that she doe not maintain weapons in the home.
Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications and other items which could pose a danger to children are stored appropriately and inaccessible to children. Fire extinguisher and smoke detectors meet State Fire Marshall standards. The carbon monoxide detector present in the home meet the standards established in Chapter 8 of Part 2, Division 12. Home is kept clean and orderly with heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. Licensee provide safe toys, play equipment and materials. The home maintains a working telephone service. |
