25 | On 09/20/2023 at 9:00am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Selina Siao conducted an unannounced random inspection along with a capacity increase inspection with Licensee Miaoxin Wen who's primary language is Mandarin. Licensees submitted an applicant to request for a capacity increase on 08/15/2023 and the fire clearance was granted on 09/13/2023. The home was toured and inspected to ensure an environment safe for the care and supervision of children. Present at the facility were the Licensee Miaoxin Wen, helper Suching Wei and five children including licensee's school age daughter who were eating breakfast at the dining area. The home has a fully charged fire extinguisher size 2A10BC, smoke and carbon monoxide detector that meet requirements and are operational. Most hazardous items were latched/locked and secured out of reach of children. Licensee stated that there are no bodies of water or weapons in the home. A review of staff records on this date indicates that helper Suching Wei is not associated to the facility and has been working at the facility for about a year. Both Licensee’s First Aid and CPR certifications are valid through 02/27/2024. Licensee completed the online mandated child abuse training on 06/23/2022 and was reminded that it must be renew every two years. Children’s records, fire drill log and facility roster was also reviewed. Licensee last conducted a fire drill with the children in care on 03/15/2023 and she stated that she will be conducting a drill with the children this month.
Licensee has provided adequate space for the children to eat, sleep and play within the home. Areas used for childcare include living room, dining room, family room and the 1/2 bath. Off limits areas include the kitchen, garage and upstairs which are inaccessible through the use of safety gates. The facility has sufficient toys and equipment available. The home has a fenced backyard available for outdoor activities.
