25 | On July 22, 2026 at 1:45PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Hector Canton conducted an unannounced annual inspection. Upon arrival, LPA met with Licensee, Lani Blakemore. LPA toured the two-story home to ensure an environment safe for the care and supervision of children.
Present during the inspection were the Licensee and their assistant, Jasmine Churchill and 11 day care children (4 infants and 2 school age) and 1 of her own minor children. The facility was operating within ratio and capacity. Day care hours are Monday to Friday 7AM to 6PM.
LPA observed that the licensee uses the following rooms for child care: kitchen, living room, playroom, and the downstairs bathroom. The following rooms/areas were made off limits using a baby gate: the entire upstairs (bedroom 1-3 and bathroom 1-2). LPA observed that the off-limit areas were secured at the time of inspection.
LPA toured the outdoor area and found it to be fully fenced, however, LPA did observe that one wooden plank of the fence had fallen. Licensee states that they will have this repaired to maintain the outdoor area fully fenced and will make the area inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water on the property. The licensee stated that there are no weapons stored in the home. Cleaning compounds, medications, and other hazardous items were observed to be inaccessible to children in care, and LPA advised the Licensee to ensure all hazardous materials remain inaccessible at all times.
The fire extinguisher was observed to be the appropriate size and meets the required 2A:10BC rating. The smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector were tested and found to be functional. There is a working telephone in the home. The home was observed to have adequate heating, lighting, ventilation, and age-appropriate toys and equipment. The last fire drill was conducted in November 2025, LPA advised the licensee that these drills must be completed every 6 months.
