25 | On 6/4/24 at 2:00PM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Patrick Ma conducted an unannounced inspection for an increase in capacity application. Licensee submitted application to the Department on 4/2/24. Fire clearance report was received by the Department on 5/13/24. Upon arrival, LPA met with Licensee Soline Joseph and present his badge and purpose of visit. Also, in the home was Husband/helper, Jean Joseph. The 2 story home was toured and inspected to ensure an environment safe for the care and supervision of children. Present in the home were 6 day care children, 1 of whom is under 24 months, and 1 of licensee’s own child under the age of 10.
Licensee has provided adequate space for the children to eat, sleep and play within the home. Areas used for child care include living room, dining room, bedroom 1, bathroom 1, which are all located on the 1st floor. Off limits areas include entire upstairs and is inaccessible through use of child safety gate at the bottom of the stairs. The licensee has sufficient toys and equipment available. The home has a fenced backyard available for outdoor activities. Licensee understands that supervision is required at all times during outdoor activities.
The fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector meet requirements and are operational. All hazardous items were latched/locked and secured out of reach of children. There is no body of water on the property. Licensee states that there are no weapons in the home. First Aid and CPR certifications expire on 7/2024. Licensee has required immunizations. Licensee is exempt from Mandated Reporter Training as their primary language is Creole. Children’s and Staff records were reviewed.
Provider is hereby reminded of the following: Report suspected child abuse and neglect, maintain children’s records according to regulation, post all required forms; corporal punishment, smoking, exersaucers, bouncy seats, walkers, and jumpers are not allowed in day care. All equipment that is used should be used only as intended by the manufacturer.
