Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Saraliz Velando and Mahjoba Raofi, conducted an announced Prelicensing Inspection for a change of location. LPA was greeted at the front door by Licensee, Judith Chery. LPA was granted entry after identifying herself and disclosing the purpose of the visit. Applicant will be using the following areas for daycare: Living room, Kitchen, Bedroom 2 and 3, Bathroom 1, and Backyard. Off Limits areas are: Bedroom 1, bathroom 2, Garage, and small backyard. The children are provided a safe, healthful, and comfortable environment, furnishings, and equipment.

LPA tested the smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector combo in the hallway area and it was functional. Licensee stated there are no weapons or ammunition stored at the home and LPA did not observe any. Applicant stated there are no bodies of water on the property and LPA did not observe any.

There are no wall heaters or fireplaces in the home. Storage for poisons, detergents, cleaning solutions, medications are inaccessible to children by located in off limits area and locked and made inaccessible to children. The home is kept clean and orderly with heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. Pediatric CPR and First Aid card will expire July 2025. Applicant has a Mandated Reporter Training certificate that expired January 2024, however she stated that she will renew it within a week. There is a working telephone and email address.

Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed Applicant of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.

There are no corrections needed. Upon final review, the Department will issue a license for eight (8). Licensee, Judith Chery agrees to comply with all regulations and laws governing Small Family Child Care Homes.
