32 | A tour of the one-story home (2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, garage and backyard) was conducted. Childcare areas are: living room, kitchen/dining area, bedroom #1 bathroom #1 and backyard. Off limit areas are: bedroom #2 and garage) and have been made inaccessible with doorknobs covers. Licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. There are no bodies of water on the facility. Poisons, detergents, cleaning solutions, medications are made inaccessible through use of latches and locks.
LPA tested the smoke alarm and carbon monoxide (combo type, located in the living room) and was operational. The fire extinguisher (mounted on the wall by the kitchen), is fully charged and meets size requirements. First Aid Kit is located in the hallway cabinet. There is a working telephone, and Parent’s Rights form is posted. The home is kept clean and orderly with adequate heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. Outdoor play will in the fully fenced backyard. There is a sufficient amount of age-appropriate toys, books and games for children, in good condition. LPA reviewed with Form LIC 311D, Forms/Records to Keep In Your Family Child Care Homes, children’s forms/records, facility forms/records, and information to be posted.
LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Licensee and the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at: https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep, as an additional resource. LPA also informed Licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at: https://www.cpsc.gov/, and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living in the home, persons who provide care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
