32 | The facility has sufficient toys and equipment available. The home has a walled (approximately 42 inches high) side patio area that will be off limits, as advised by the LPA, and as agreed to by the applicant. The community swimming pool is a potential hazard immediately beyond the patio’s wall and the patio access gate. The pool is fenced to required height/visibility and requires key access from residents. There are no other bodies of water at home. Applicant says that she will take daycare children to a nearby park for outdoor play. The applicant understands that visual supervision is always required during outdoor activities. The fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector meet requirements and are operational. Poisons, cleaning compounds, medications and other hazardous items were secured out of reach of children. The applicant states there are NO firearms and weapons in the home.
LPA advised the applicant and her proposed helper, Al Beruni, on helper requirements. The applicant and Mr. Beruni’s Pediatric First Aid and CPR certifications both expire August 2027. The applicant is exempt from Mandated Reporter AB1207 training certification due to having limited English proficiency. The applicant’s primary languages are Nooristani and Pashto. LPA reminded the applicant that Pediatric CPR/First Aid and Mandated Reporter training must be renewed every 2 years. The applicant has required immunizations. LPA observed all required postings were posted. Children’s and staff records were reviewed and found to be incomplete (helper requirements not met). The applicant’s records are in order. The applicant maintains a current roster of the children.
The applicant was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA reminded Applicant that all unusual incident reports shall be submitted to Licensing office via email at SDIncidentReports@dss.ca.gov or via fax at (619)767-2203. The duty officer number is (619) 767-2248.
The applicant is hereby reminded of the following: Report suspected child abuse and neglect, maintain children’s records according to regulation, post all required forms; corporal punishment, smoking, exersaucers, bouncy seats, walkers, and jumpers are not allowed in day care. All equipment that is used should be used only as intended by the manufacturer.
