13 | On 4/18/23 at 9:15 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Annette Sutherland conducted an unannounced complaint inspection regarding the above allegation. Upon arrival, LPA Sutherland met with assistant director Lauren Patlan and toured the facility. Director Kayla Thomas arrived shortly after. Census was 35 children and also present were 6 staff members. LPA observed children in the classroom getting ready to go out to the playground. LPA obtained LIC 9040 facility roster and interviewed staff members present.
The Department investigated the above allegation and obtained information from interviews with the director, assistant director and staff members present. LPA observed the tarp partially exposing the sandbox and director discussed walkthrough playground and current cleaning procedures. LPA did not observe any unusal orders and staff members present also confirmed they had not seen any animal feces in the sandbox. Based upon this information, although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove that the alleged violation occurred at this facility and is therefore UNSUBSTANTIATED.
An exit interview was conducted with Director Kayla Thomas. A Notice of Site Visit (LIC 9213) and Appeal Rights (LIC 9058) were provided along with the report (LIC 9099) to the Licensee. LPA Sutherland observed Notice of Site Visit being posted. Notice of Site Visit must be posted for 30 days.
