Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jennifer Lott an unannounced Annual Licensing Inspection. LPA was greeted at the front of the facility by Director, Kayla Thomas and granted entry after identifying herself and disclosing the purpose of her visit. During today's inspection, there were 32 children with 6 staff in 3 classrooms. Appropriate ratios and capacity were observed.

Furniture and age appropriate equipment is in good condition. Rooms have adequate heating, lighting, ventilation. Floors appear to be clean and safe. Drinking water is readily accessible. Bathrooms are maintained with operational toilets, faucets and paper products. Food service area consists of a kitchen which is clean and free of hazards. Menu is posted and there is adequate food for meals. Storage containers for solid waste have tight-fitting covers and are kept in good repair. Storage for poisons and/or toxic items are locked and inaccessible. Director Thomas states there are no firearms or ammunition stored on the premises. The facility appears to be free of insects and rodents. There is an operational carbon monoxide detector at the facility. Disaster drill was conducted on 06/21/2023.

Outdoor play area is fenced with sufficient material for cushioning. There are no bodies of water. Area is equipped with misters and awning for shade. Water is available for outdoor use. Water was also tested on 01/04/2023 and was within normal limits.
Personnel records contain health screening documentation and at least one staff member has current CPR and First Aid certifications.

All staff have completed mandated reporter training and required immunizations. Each staff have met the educational requirements. Sign ins were reviewed. Children’s records contain admission agreements and medical assessment. Director Thomas was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. All staff reviewed today have criminal background clearances and/or exemptions.

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Director Thomas and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed Director Thomas of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s records. No deficiencies were observed at this time. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Director, Thomas. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
