25 | On 06/16/2023 at 11AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Samantha Clenista conducted an annual inspection. Upon arrival, LPA met with staff members, Christopher (aka Kit) Wemett and Karen Castillocabrera (AnaKaren), both who are not qualified teachers. LPA continued to tour the facility and observed both staff members supervising a total of 11 children. Children were observed playing quietly indoors playing various activities. Judith Drapkin, Director of Operations (teacher qualified), arrived soon after LPA started the inspection to conclude. All required notices, forms and license were posted upon entry of the facility.
Room has adequate heating, lighting, and ventilation. LPA observed all indoor play space to be complete with age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cots, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Bathrooms are maintained with operational toilets and faucets with appropriate temperature and ventilation. LPA reminded Ms. Drapkin that children are to be escorted and supervised by staff to and from the bathroom and under direct visual observation. Food service area consists of a kitchen which is clean and free of hazards. Facility requires the parents/guardians to bring their child(ren) AM/PM snacks and lunches, however the facility has extra food/snacks in case someone forgets to bring their child food. Drinking water is readily accessible via refillable water jugs and water bottles. Ms. Drapkin stated there is no firearms/weapons on site. Facility has an operating carbon monoxide detector located in the classroom near the west side window. No bodies of water were observed during inspection. During LPA's tour of the facility, LPA observed several paint buckets located in the outdoor storage closet that had no lock or doorknob cover, making it accessible to children. LPA also observed hand sanitizer and adult size scissors (sharp edge) located in a cabinet under the teachers desk located in the classroom, accessible to children. Outdoor play area is fenced per regulation. Climbing structures and slides were observed to be age appropriate and in good repair, with rubber mulch placed near falling zones. Areas on the playground have canopies (EZ up) used for shade. |
