32 | The rooms are complete with age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cots/ mat, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. There are 5 toilets which is sufficient enough for 75 children. There are 5 sinks which is sufficient for 75 children. Children are to be escorted and supervised by staff to and from the bathroom and direct visual observation is required. There is a separate bathroom for staff located upstairs, equipped with 1 toilet, 2 urinals and 2 sinks. The single bathroom downstairs in the hallway can be designated for use by children who are ill. There are four carbon monoxide detectors on site located outside the classrooms in main hallway. The kitchen area currently includes a sink, refrigerator, stove, oven and storage units. Menu is posted, as well as all other required documents for the parents and employees. The center will be providing electronic sign in/out located at the drop-off area which is located by back playground for preschoolers and back gate for toddlers. In the toddler classroom the current changing pad did not meet regulations. Applicant stated she would purchase a changing table that meets requirements with a 3-inch side.
The outdoor play area was inspected. LPA observed two separate playgrounds. Areas are completely fenced, have canopy/sails for shade, age appropriate play equipment, and sufficient cushioning for preschool playground which is sand/turf. The preschool playground currently has several concrete parking stanchions in the blacktop area which need to be removed prior to licensing. Applicant stated she would have them removed or make the blacktop area inaccessible by use of fence until they can be removed. The toddler playground has a concrete surface. Applicant stated she would purchase cushion mats to put under the portable climbing structure and slide. Drinking water is readily accessible via children’s water bottles which can be refilled from two filtered systems located in classroom #1 and kitchen.
Facility representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. |
