25 | On 05/09/23 at 10:00am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Samantha Clenista conducted an announced Pre-Licensing inspection. Upon arrival, LPA met with Center Director, Kayla Thomas and Assistant Director, Lauren Patlan. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children were inspected today. Facility is requesting to be licensed for 20 infants (ages 0-2 years old) in Room 4A and Room 4B. Fire clearance was granted on 03/27/23. This facility currently houses a preschool program in Room 1, 2 and 3. The areas used for the infant program was observed to be separate from the preschool program, both indoors and outdoors. LPA informed Director that the programs shall never commingle at any given time and that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor play. When medications are on site (depending on the medication), Director stated that they will be in a locked cabinet in the director’s office.
LPA continued to tour the facility and measured all indoor and outdoor activity space. Room 4A measured at 453.89 sq. ft. and Room 4B measured at 300.4 sq. ft. The total indoor activity space available for the children is 754.29 sq. ft., which will accommodate a total of 21 children. There is a separate bathroom located in Room 4A that is equipped with two toilets and one sink available for the children. There are an additional 4 sinks within the classrooms available for the children. There is a changing table within arm’s reach of a sink in both Room 4A and Room 4B. LPA observed the indoor play space to be complete with age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. There is a refrigerator for children’s use in both classrooms. There is a separate crib area (not included in the activity square footage) located between both rooms that currently has 6 cribs, for the younger infants. There are napping mats for the older infants who can climb out of a crib. Infant needs and services plan will be stored in the classroom in a binder per child. |
