32 | LPAs observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cots/mats, cribs, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Infant toys are safe with no sharp edges, splinters, or points, nor made of small parts that can present a choking hazard. Drinking water is available inside and outside the classrooms via filtered water dispensers through a company called Rayne. LPAs observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. LPAs observed there to be no bodies of water on the child care premises, however there is a Motel 6 adjacent to the child care center that LPAs observed there to be an in-ground pool that appears to be fenced per regulation. Facility Representatives stated that there are no firearms or weapons on site.
In Infant Room #2, highchairs and feeding tables have broad-based legs, plastic seats are in good repair and trays lock onto chairs. Highchairs are made of washable, moisture-resistant material. Changing tables have at least 1” padding covered with moisture-resistant, washable material. Sides of the changing table are at least 3” high and the changing table is within arm’s reach of a sink. Diapering sink is not used for meal preparation or dishwashing. There is a crib area located in Infant Room #2, which is separated from the activity space via wood/Plexiglas. This barrier is at least four feet high, made of sound absorbing material and allows for supervision of napping children. There are currently 12 cribs in the crib area. Cribs meet regulatory requirements. Facility Representatives stated that the 15-minute sleep logs, Needs and Services Plans (required to be updated quarterly), and Sleep Plans will be kept in each child’s file in the office and/or classroom.
LPAs observed a total of 6 sinks and 8 toilets available for the preschool children. LPAs observed a total of 4 sinks, 3 toilets and 3 potty chairs available for the infants. There is a separate staff restroom (men’s and woman’s) located near the director’s office in the front of the building which is equipped with a total 5 toilets and 4 sinks. The isolation area for children who are ill will be an area located farthest back of the center which is labeled “isolation room” on the facility sketch. This area also consists of one toilet and one sink, which is used for the isolation bathroom when children are ill.
Facility will provide breakfast, lunch and PM snack. The kitchen area currently includes 1 freezer, 1 refrigerator, 1 oven, 1 stove, 1 dishwasher, 1 sink (hot and cold water) and 1 microwave. The kitchen area and food storage areas were observed to be free of rodents and/or vermin. Hazardous items in kitchen are inaccessible to children by being placed on high surfaces. |
