13 | On 12/10/25 at 1:00 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Sharon Mendez conducted an unannounced visit to deliver findings for the complaint received on 9/25/25 regarding the above allegation. Upon arrival, LPA met with director Tomeka Williams. Present at the facility were a total of 66 children in 5 classrooms with 14 staff members.
During the visit on 9/30/25 LPA toured the interior and exterior of the facility and occasionally observed flies in the air, and a few crickets on grass but not at a pest or infestation nor a level that would prove disruptive or dangerous to children in care. LPA conducted interviews with staff who mentioned to have seen some sand fleas in the sand box and brought to the director’s attention who gutted the whole sandbox and laid turf the same week. There were no children reported to be bitten by the staff or parents during that time. LPA also conducted interviews with parents, none of whom identified an insect/pest problem. LPA reviewed facility pest control vendor records and receipts, which confirm that since at least March of 2025 the facility has employed a pest control company for monthly services, and additional services, as needed.
Based upon these findings the allegation is not valid because the preponderance of evidence has not been met. Therefore, the allegation is found to be UNSUBSTANTIATED.
Exit interview was conducted and report was reviewed with facility representative Tomeka Williams, director. Notice of Site visit was provided and must remain posted for 30 days.
