25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Keely Messerschmidt conducted an unannounced annual inspection on 5/28/25 at 1:50pm. LPA met with Director Tonja Handley, who provided a tour of the preschool center.
During the inspection, several key facility items were observed and updated where necessary. These included the facility's license, the Emergency Disaster Plan (LIC610) and Earthquake Preparedness Checklist (LIC9148), the Parent’s Rights Poster (PUB393), Personal Rights (LIC613A), the Child Car Seat Law notice, and the menu. The facility was found to be operating within the limits stated on its license, and staff-to-child ratios were observed to be there were 28 children with 5 staff members. Classrooms were adequately equipped with age- and size-appropriate furniture and materials, ensuring a safe and hazard-free environment. The facility representative confirmed that no weapons were present on the premises.
LPA observed an underground pool with joining playground gate, gate door swings away from pool and has a key lockable device that is less than 60 inches from the ground. LPA observed a life ring with a USCG approval label and a 15 foot fixed pole with a body hook. Director provided LPA with daily inspection logs. LPA observed locker room doors and hallway door to not have any means to restrict opening. See LIC809D page.. The director is aware that any wading pools or similar products must be emptied immediately after use and stored in an upright position. Drinking water was available both indoors and outdoors. Filtered water is provided. If filtered or faucet water is used, LPA verified that lead testing was completed.
Medications, disinfectants, cleaning solutions, and other hazardous materials were stored in locations inaccessible to children, while poisons and toxins were securely locked away. The facility’s floors were observed to be safe and clean, and bathroom facilities were sanitary and in proper working condition. The playgrounds were enclosed by a secure, six-foot-tall concrete wall surrounding the perimeter of the center. The fencing included self-closing gates and was free of hazards. Outdoor activity areas contained age- and size-appropriate equipment in good condition.
