32 | Required preventative health and safety course which includes nutrition and prevention of lead exposure will be completed and provided to CCL at a future date. Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR is on file and expires in October 2026. Proof of Mandated Reporter Training was also provided and expires in August 2026.
LPA observed age-appropriate toys and learning materials. The required (2A-10BC) fire extinguisher was observed mounted in the kitchen entry. LPA reminded applicant that the fire extinguisher must be serviced annually or as often as necessary. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors should be checked, batteries should be replaced.
Per Applicant, there are not any weapons or firearms in the facility currently. Applicant stated they understand CCL zero tolerance policy involving Title 22 regulations and firearms. LPA reminded applicant that CCL should be contacted prior to the purchase or storage of firearms or weapons in the FCCH.
According to the applicant, the children will use the front and backyard for outdoor play. The outdoor play area was observed to be fenced partially, excluding the west side of the home. Applicant will install a temporary barrier on the side of the home, making the west side of the home and small embankment inaccessible and off limits to daycare children. LPA observed the backyard to have a covered patio and concrete surface. There are additional step stones that is currently dirt and under renovation, applicant states that this part of the yard will be utilized for exploratory play. The backyard also has a metal stage that is utilized for events. LPA provided best practice feedback regarding safety of children when outdoors, including uneven paths, drops and climbing hazards. Applicant states that all outdoor play time will be supervised, and dirt areas will be utilized on a scheduled basis.
There are not any pools, spas, or other bodies of water present in the home currently.Applicant stated they understand CCL zero tolerance policy involving Title 22 regulations and bodies of water. LPA reminded applicant that CCL should be contacted prior to the purchase or installment of a pool or jacuzzi in the FCCH. All wading pools must be stored in an upright position and emptied when not in use.
The isolation area for a sick child waiting to be picked up will be in the master bedroom area, away from other children. LPA reviewed with applicant the LIC 311D, Forms/Records To Keep In Your Family Child Care Homes, children’s forms/records, facility forms/records, and information to be posted.
The applicant provided proof of control of property.
Applicant was reminded that all adults 18 and over living in the home, persons who provide care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
