25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) William Chancellor conducted an unannounced annual inspection at Mendez Family Child Care on April 23, 2026, at 9:20 AM. LPA met with Licensee Carolina Mendez, who guided LPA on a tour of the home. There was three children present with Licensee when LPA arrived. During the visit, LPA verified the current roster to reflect seven (7) children actively enrolled, including a variety of both full and part time schedules.
The facility operates Monday through Friday from 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Certain areas listed as off-limits, include the entire second floor, attached garage, laundry room, office and swimming pool area. The facility is licensed as a small Family Child Care Home (FCCH) with a maximum capacity of eight children and is operating within the licensed capacity of the license.
During the inspection, LPA observed licensee to be interacting with three infant aged daycare children by providing snacks, singing songs, playing with developmentally appropriate toys and playing outside. A working cell phone is available, and the current phone number on file is correct. A fully charged fire extinguisher (2A:10BC) was observed, along with a functioning smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector, both of which were tested by the Licensee. The fireplace is properly screened to prevent access by children, and all hazardous items, including toxins, are stored securely and are inaccessible to children.
No weapons are present, and the Licensee, Carolina Mendez understands that all firearms, weapons, and ammunition must be locked separately and made inaccessible as per Title 22 Regulations. Stairs are barricaded with a baby gate when children are in care.
