32 | The facility currently has two separately fenced in outdoor playgrounds (one for toddler and another for preschool). Toddler playground measured at 2,768.4 sq. ft., sufficient for requested capacity. Preschool playground measured at 4,144 sq. ft., sufficient for requested capacity. LPA informed Ms. Gibson that children must be escorted to and from the playground, and that staff must always maintain direct supervision to ensure the health and safety of all children. All outdoor areas were observed to be fully fenced and had sails used for shade. Area had age-appropriate toys and play equipment and had turf under play structures, sufficient to sustain a fall. Drinking water is readily accessible inside and outside the classroom via refillable water jugs and water cups. Ms. Gibson was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing.
LPA reviewed with Ms. Gibson the LIC 311A, Records to Be Maintained At The Facility, for child’s records, personnel records, administrative records, and documents to be posted.
LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Ms. Gibson and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at: https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep, as an additional resource. LPA also informed Ms. Gibson of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at: https://www.cpsc.gov/, and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
Ms. Gibson was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. |
