32 | The director reported that a vehicle accident occurred near the facility, resulting in damage to a gas line and interrupting gas service to the surrounding area, including the preschool. During the facility walkthrough, no major structural damage or safety hazards were observed. The director stated that there were no structural issues affecting the facility and that the only impact was the temporary loss of hot water and the kitchen stove due to the gas disruption.
Staff interviews corroborated this information. Staff reported that they were able to continue operating and providing care to children without issue. Staff stated they were able to heat water for food preparation using an electric kettle, and that the facility used electric cooking appliances, such as a crock pot and electric griddle, during the disruption. Staff also reported that these temporary measures were sufficient to maintain normal operations.
The director stated that the facility additionally used disposable dishes when possible and temporarily modified the menu to reduce the need for hot water. The facility does not currently provide personal care to children, such as teeth brushing or bathing, which would otherwise require hot water. The menu reviewed during the inspection did not include items requiring hot water. Documentation provided by the facility and gas company clearly corroborated the reported gas line damage and temporary service interruption.
The facility was observed operating normally, and no further conditions consistent with a facility in disrepair were identified.
Although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of the evidence to prove that the alleged violation occurred, therefore the above allegation is found to be Unsubstantiated. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the director, Evelyn Kensel. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days
