25 | On 9/19/23 at 2:50pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Martha Malane arrived at the facility to conduct a case management inspection for the purpose of a capacity increase to 112 school-age children (ages TK-12 years). Upon arrival, LPA met with Director, Amber Cutting and was led on a tour the facility. There were 72 children and seven (7) staff members present. The facility will utilize the Cafeteria, Auditorium and Room 10. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday 6:30am–8:20am, M/T/W/F 2:40pm-6:00pm and Thursday 12:35pm-6:00pm.
Rooms are equipped with appropriate furniture: tables, chairs, bookshelves and other materials for children. There is a functioning carbon monoxide detector. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions and other hazardous substances are kept inaccessible. Drinking water is available indoors and outdoors via refillable water bottles brought from home. Facility provides afternoon snack. Required documents are posted.
The facility utilizes the Elementary playground, the garden and the blacktop area for children in first grade–12 years. The kindergarten playground is utilized for children in TK–Kindergarten. High climbing equipment on the kindergarten playground is for use by children 5 years – 12 years. Director stated she will submit a plan of operation to ensure children under 5 years of age do not utilize the high climbing equipment. High climbing equipment and swings have rubber cushioning to absorb falls. Children utilize the lunch area for snack and outdoor activities. Shaded rest areas are provided through the use of patio covers and trees. The surface of the outdoor activity space was observed to be free of hazards. LPA discussed proper supervision and placement of staff during outdoor activities to ensure the safety of children at all times. Facility utilizes boys’ and girls’ restrooms located in the upstairs hallway next to the lunch area. Children shall be escorted and supervised to and from the restrooms by facility staff.
