25 | On 09/27/2022 at 8:50am, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Samantha Clenista and Annette Sutherland conducted an unannounced case management site inspection for the purpose to evaluate whether the licensed areas of this facility have any access to the swimming pool on site to ensure the health and safety of all children.
Upon arrival, LPA’s met with Daniel O'Farrell (General Manager) and proceeded for the facility. Director, Monica Oates, arrived midway of the inspection to conclude visit. There were no school-aged children present during inspection. The facility currently operates in the following rooms: shooting stars, panda, drop in room and TV room. LPA’s toured all licensed areas and the pool area that is on site. LPA’s observed there to be a total of one swimming pool, 1 in ground wader pool and 2 jacuzzi’s. All bodies of water are located in one big open area located farthest west of the enclosed campus. All licensed areas are located in the middle of the campus. When LPA’s toured all licensed child care areas, LPA’s observed multiple exits within the classrooms and restrooms that lead to open spaces within the campus that can potentially lead to the bodies of water.
The area where the bodies of water are located is enclosed via variety of fences (mixture of chain link with mesh, vertical metal fencing). All fencing was observed to be higher of 5 ft. per regulation except three noted areas. There is a gate that the employees enter behind the bathroom pool area, that does not self latch, and has access to the bodies of water. This fencing must meet regulation. There are also four panels of vertical metal fencing that are shy of 5 ft. These panels shall meet regulation. LPA's observed a total of 6 vertical metal self-latching gates that pull away from the bodies of water, however, 4 of the 6 gates, do not self-latch at all distances. Self-latching gates must self-latch at all distances when pulled away from the bodies of water.
