On June 23, 2023, at 10:48 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Courtnee Peebles arrived unannounced to NCCS Child Development Center - Eucalyptus (CCC) and met with director, Shonna Brookin-Wiggins to discuss the investigative finding of the allegation listed above. On June 23, 2023 at 10:48 AM, LPA conducted a tour and census of the CCC. During the investigation, LPA conducted confidential interviews with five staff (D,S1,S2,S3,S4,S5) and two children (C1,C2).

On May 22, 2023, a complaint was received with allegations stating, staff forced day care child to hit another day care child. Confidential interviews revealed the CCC staff and director redirect children by talking to and speaking firmly about what is allowed and not allowed at the facility. Staff usually separate children when they get into a physical altercation allowing them to focus on their behavior and how to channel negative energy. Confidential interviews also revealed all staff are helpful and work together as a team.

Based on confidential interviews conducted during the investigation the allegation that Staff forced day care child to hit another day care child, is not supported or proven by evidence. Therefore, the above allegations are unsubstantiated. A notice of site visit was provided and must remain posted for 30 days. A copy of this report and appeal rights were given and explained to Director Shonna Brookin-Wiggins.
