32 | Interviews along with a review of the diaper changing logs, show that infant children are checked and changed regularly throughout the day. The diaper logs include dates, times, and diaper status for all checks and changes, demonstrating that children were not left in soiled diapers for an extended period of time.
It was alleged "Daycare child sustained unexplained injuries while in care", based on interviews conducted and documents reviewed, staff provided incident reports documenting injuries which are given to parents. An App is used to communicate the information. Staff explained each injury to the parent at the time of the incident. The Director reported that no parent or responsible party informed the facility of any unexplained injury during the time period in question.
Regarding the allegation that staff did not report injuries of a daycare child to the authorized representative, facility records and investigative interviews provided contradictory information regarding notification of injuries. Based on interviews conducted and documents reviewed, the facility maintains incident reports for injuries, which are provided to parents and signed as acknowledgment. Staff reported that all injuries were explained to parents at the time of the incident, and the Director stated that no parent reported any unexplained injury during the time period in question.
Regarding the allegation that staff did not attend to a child timely, interviews indicate that staff acknowledge when children show signs of distress. Staff reported that when a child becomes upset, they get down to the child’s level and assist the child in working through their emotions. The evidence obtained did not demonstrate that a crying child was left unattended. Contradictory information was provided regarding whether a child was not attended to in a timely manner.
Although the allegations may have occurred or may be valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove that the alleged violations occurred. Therefore, the allegations are determined to be Unsubstantiated. An exit interview was conducted, and the report was reviewed with Director Meghan Alldredge. A Notice of Site Visit was provided and must remain posted for 30 days. |
