25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) William Chancellor conducted an unannounced annual inspection for a Nelson, Jamie family childcare on June 17, 2026, at 11:05 AM. LPA met with Licensee Jamie Nelson, who guided LPA on a tour of the home. Upon arrival, there was 11 child present with Licensee and Assistant. During the visit, LPA confirmed the facility had 16 children enrolled and 11 children present.
The facility operates Monday through Friday from 7: 00AM- 5:00 PM, serving children birth to TK. Certain areas listed as off-limits include the attached garage, laundry room, kitchen, living room, all three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Daycare children primarily use the den, adjacent to the kitchen and outdoor gated yard that has various age-appropriate climbing domes and playhouses. The daycare den is equipped with a half bathroom. Facility is licensed as a large FCCH with a maximum capacity of fourteen (14) children and is operating within the capacity listed on the license. Ten daycare children were present between the ages of 1-4 years old. During the inspection, LPA observed children eating lunch and then transitioning down for nap time.
A working cell phone is available, and the current phone number on file is correct. A fully charged fire extinguisher (2A:10BC) was observed, mounted in the daycare den. LPA observed an operational smoke detector mounted in the home hallway. Additionally, the home is equipped with a carbon monoxide alarm mounted in the home hallway. LPA confirmed operating child safety gate making the kitchen off-limits and inaccessible to daycare children. Kitchen knives were observed to be inaccessible to daycare children located in a raised kitchen counter next to the stove. LPA reminded licensee that all poisons and cleaning compounds deemed hazardous must be locked by a key. Licensee stated they understand that the doorknobs must be locked during operational daycare hours, including child safety gates. The facility provides clean, safe, and age-appropriate toys for children. A current roster is on file, and required postings, including the Facility Sketch, Emergency Disaster Plan, and Notification of Parent’s Rights, are displayed. Fire and disaster drill documentation is maintained, with the last drill conducted in December 2025.
