25 | On February 9, 2022 at 8:45 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jo Ann Legaspi conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection and met with Licensee Hermila Flores. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the Licensee. The Licensee left the inspection because of a previously scheduled medical appointment; thus, the inspection was completed with Staff Imelda Pena. Five (5) children and Staff Pena were present in the facility during this inspection. This facility is a two story, three (3) bedroom, two (2) bathroom house. Staff accompanied LPA inside and out of the facility during this inspection. The following areas used for childcare are: the living room, dining room, downstairs bathroom and the fenced backyard. The off limits areas is the top second floor. The stairs to the top floor are barred with child safety gates.
The fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector met requirements. Hazardous items were observed inaccessible to children during this inspection. The Licensee has available toys, play equipment and materials. The home has an available fenced backyard for outdoor activities. Staff was reminded that continuous supervision is to be given to children whenever engaged in outdoor activities. All pools, spas, hot tubs, fishponds, or similar bodies of water are made inaccessible to children by covering or fencing as required by regulation. Staff stated there are no weapons inside the home. First Aid and CPR certifications for both the Licensee and staff expire in August 2022. Licensee and staff have required immunizations. Licensee and staff completed Mandated Reporter Training. The facility roster is maintained and was reviewed. The last fire and disaster drills were conducted and documented on 01/27/2022.
Staff Pena was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
