25 | On 2/21/2023, at 8:50a.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Cindy Meier conducted an unannounced Annual Inspection and met with Licensee, Oletta Silas. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was led on a tour of the facility indoors and outdoors. This facility is a one story, three-bedroom, two-bathroom house. The following areas are used for childcare: family room, bedroom #2, bathroom #2 and front yard. Off limits areas include: kitchen, garage, bedroom #1, bedroom #3, bathroom #1 and backyard which are made inaccessible through the use of locks and baby gates. The fireplace located in the living room is inaccessible to children.
Hours of operation hours are Monday – Friday 6:00a.m. to 6:00p.m. There were no children present. Licensee and licensee’s mother, who is visiting, were present during the inspection. Licensee stated she has not provided care to children since 2019, although the facility file does not reflect this information. Licensee stated there was a fire in the kitchen in April 2022 which was not reported to licensing. No children were present.
The licensee did not have a fire extinguisher or smoke detector available during the inspection. The carbon monoxide detector met requirements. Hazardous items were inaccessible to children in care. LPA informed licensee poisons shall be placed in a storage area and locked. LPA did not observe any poisons during the inspection. The storage area for poisons is locked. LPA observed toys and materials available for children’s use. The home uses the front yard for outdoor activities. The front yard is not fenced. LPA informed licensee that children need to be supervised at all times during outdoor activities. Licensee stated there are no bodies of water and LPA did not observe any bodies of water during the inspection. Licensee stated there are no firearms, other weapons or ammunition in the home. |
