25 | On 12/15/23 at 1:00 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Keturah Lane conducted an unannounced proof of corrections (POC) inspection at the facility. Upon arrival, LPA was greeted by Licensee Maria Elena Ramirez and toured the facility. Also present was Licensee's helper Geome Ramirez and 12 daycare children including 4 infants. All staff present were fingerprint cleared and associated to the facility.
LPA Lane arrived during naptime and observed that no infants were swaddled in care. LPA observed an infant (18 months) in a high chair with a blanket. Licensee stated she was just sitting there for about 10 minutes (in kitchen area) because she was waking the other children in her playpen (in living room), so she could watch her while filling out the required paperwork for sleep logs. Licensee stated that the 18-month old does not sleep in the high chair and that it was only for a few minutes until she could transition her to the play pen. Licensee removed her from the high chair and put her in a safe sleep area and she fell asleep within 5 minutes.
LPA obtained sleep logs for infants in care from 12/12 - 12/14. Licensee provided required written statements and emailed to LPA on 12/14/23 regarding swaddling, safe sleep logs and ratio/capacity. All deficiencies cited from 12/12/23 have been corrected. LPA provided clearance letters to Licensee at the visit. LPA provided technical assistance regarding the infant in the high chair and to make sure infant is not left sleeping or restricted in the high chair.
Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee, Maria Elena Ramirez. Notice of Site Visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. |
