25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) William Chancellor conducted an unannounced annual inspection for Sauceda, Maria Family Childcare (FCCH) on April 24, 2025, at 2:45PM. LPA was greeted by assistant (S1) Gloria Zapata and granted entry to the FCCH and granted permission to begin annual inspection. Approximately ten minutes later, Licensee (LIC) Maria Sauceda arrived and continued with inspection through the indoors and outdoors of the home. Upon arrival, two assistants were present with nine daycare children.
The facility operates Monday through Friday from 7AM- 5PM, servicing infants 0-10 years old. Certain areas listed as off-limits include the attached garage, loft, entire second story and second patio. Facility is licensed as a large FCCH with a maximum capacity of fourteen (14) children and is operating within the capacity listed on the license. In total, nine daycare children were present during the inspection, including two infants, almost two years old. During the inspection, LPA observed children finishing snack on the covered patio, playing with their peers in different centers and intermittently being picked up by their guardians.
A working cell phone is available, and the current phone number on file is correct. A fully charged fire extinguisher (2A:10BC) was observed, mounted in the kitchen. LPA observed an operational dual smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector, mounted in the entry corridor of the home. LPA observed kitchen knives and all household medications, in kitchen cabinets, inaccessible to daycare children. LPA reminded licensee that all poisons and cleaning compounds deemed hazardous must be locked by a key.
The facility provides a variety of age-appropriate toys for children in the daycare area room and covered patio. A current roster was available for review and up to date. LPA confirmed the required postings, including the Facility Sketch, Emergency Disaster Plan, License and Notification of Parent’s Rights, are displayed in the daycare area. Fire and disaster drill documentation is maintained, with the last drill was conducted and recorded in March 2024.
Licensee Maria Sauceda stated there are no firearms or weapons stored or located on the premise of the FCCH, at this time. Licensee stated they understand that all firearms, weapons, and ammunition must be locked separately and made inaccessible as per Title 22 Regulations.
