25 | On June 10, 2024, at 9:15 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jo Ann Legaspi conducted an unannounced Annual Random Inspection and met with the Licensees Martha and Jose Hernandez. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted facility entry by the Licensee. Both licensees, one (1) helper, one (1) volunteer and nine (9) children were present during this inspection; the youngest child is over 3 years. This facility is a single floored, five (5) bedroom, four (4) bathroom house. Licensees accompanied LPA during this inspection. The following areas used for childcare are: dining room, living room, the enclosed patio, one (1) bedroom, two (2) bathrooms and the shaded and fenced backyard. The off-limit areas are the remaining bedrooms and bathroom, which are made inaccessible to children by use of door locks. Sliding cabinet locks are on kitchen cabinets.
The fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector met requirements. Hazardous items were observed inaccessible to children during this inspection. The Licensees have available toys, play equipment and materials. Children engage in outdoor activities in the shaded and fenced backyard. Licensees were reminded that continuous supervision is to be given to children whenever engaged in outdoor activities. No bodies of water were observed on the premises during the inspection. Licensees stated there are no weapons in the home.
Licensees’ First Aid and CPR certifications expire in June 2025. Licensees have required immunizations. Mandated Reporter Training was completed on 06/22/2023. The facility roster is maintained and was reviewed. The last fire and disaster drills were conducted and documented on 06/24/2024.
Licensees were reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home.
