25 | On 06/21/2023 at 1:00pm, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Michelle Hood and Thien Dinh conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection and met with Licensee Fowsia Osman. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the Licensee. There were 5 children present in the facility during this inspection. The licensee accompanied LPA inside and out of the facility during this inspection. The off-limits areas are inaccessible using door locks. Hours of operation are Monday through Sunday, 24 hours per day. It was discussed with the Licensee that care should be provided in the home for periods of less than 24 hours per day.
There is a fireplace in the living room but it is barricaded. The fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector met the requirements. All hazardous items were inaccessible to children. The licensee has toys, play equipment, and materials available for the children. The licensee uses her backyard for outdoor activities. The licensee understands there must be direct supervision while at the playground. No bodies of water were observed on the premises during the inspection. The licensee was reminded all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to the initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Licensee’s First Aid and CPR certifications expire on 10/2024. The licensee has required immunizations. Licensee is exempt from Mandated Reporter Training due to her first language is Somalia. The facility roster is maintained and reviewed. LPA reviewed children’s files. The last fire and disaster drills were conducted and documented on 5/15/2023.
