On October 12, 2023 at 1:00 p.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), D. Sanchez, conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection and met with assistant Stephanie Lopez, who stated that Licensee Yovana was out attending her daughters school performance. Inspection was conducted in Spanish language. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the assistant. Five (7) children and two (2) staff were present in the facility during this inspection. This facility is a two story, 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom house. Assistant accompanied LPA inside and out of the facility during this inspection. The following areas used for child care are: Living room, dining area, kitchen, bedroom located on the first floor, bathroom and backyard. Off limits areas are: all areas in the second floor, laundry room located in the first floor and garage and are inaccessible through use of baby gate and door knob protection.

The fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector met requirements. All hazardous items were inaccessible to children. The facility has toys, play equipment and materials available. The home has a fenced backyard available for outdoor activities. There is a playground structure in the backyard that has been properly secured to the ground. No bodies of water observed on the premises during the inspection. Assistant stated there are no weapons in the home. A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances or exemptions. Assistant First Aid and CPR certifications expires on 4/2024. Staff has required immunizations. Licensee completed Mandated Reporter Training, but both staff present during inspection have not taken the required course. Link: www.mandatedreporterca.com
Facility roster is maintained and was reviewed. The last fire and disaster drills were conducted and documented on 05/2023. There is one crib or play yard for each infant who is unable to climb out of the crib or play yard. Cribs or play yards are free from all loose articles and objects. The provider and staff physically checks on sleeping infants every 15 minutes, but does not document. Provider does not have an Individual Infant Sleeping Plan [LIC 9227 (3/20)] on file for infant up to 12 months of age. The provider places infants up to 12 months of age on their backs for sleeping.
