25 | On 9/18/23 at 2:15 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Adrian Mangina conducted an unannounced Annual inspection with the Licensee, Malina Brown. There were no children in care. Proper supervision and ratios were observed. The 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom single story home was toured and inspected to ensure an environment safe for the care and supervision of children. Licensee owns the home and has provided deed as proof of control of property.
A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances or exemptions. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated
Licensee’s First Aid and CPR certifications expire on 6/2025 and Mandated Reporter Training AB1207 was completed 5/26/22. Licensee meets immunization requirements. LPA reviewed staff file and child files which were complete. All required documents were posted. Last disaster drill was conducted 9/13/23.
Licensee has provided adequate space for the children to eat, sleep and play within the home. Licensee uses the following rooms for childcare: classroom, kitchen, dining room, living room, and bathroom 1. The following areas are be off limits: attached garage, bathroom 2, bathroom 3, bedroom 1, bedroom 2, and bedroom3, which are inaccessible locks, doorknob covers, and latches. There is a working fire extinguisher rated 2A10BC, smoke and carbon monoxide detector are present and operational. Poisons, cleaning compounds, medications and other hazardous items are inaccessible to children using
