25 | On 11/12/2024, at 11:00 a.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Victoria Hernandez conducted an unannounced Annual Inspection and met with Licensee, Shukri Jama and licensee daughter Samira Shikh-Ali who was able to translate for licensee. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was led on a tour of the facility indoors and outdoors. This facility is located on the bottom floor a one story, five-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment home. The following areas are used for childcare: living room, kitchen, bathroom #2, and bedroom #5. Off limits areas include bedroom #1, #2, #3, #4, and bathroom #1 and balcony which are made inaccessible by sliding door and through the use of locking door with key. LPA let the licensee know doors must remain locked and shut during operating hours. Hours of operation hours are Monday – Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. There were no children present during the inspection.
The fire extinguisher does not meet requirements, smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector met requirements. Hazardous items were inaccessible to children in care. LPA informed licensee poisons shall be placed in a storage area and locked. LPA did not observe any poisons during the inspection. The storage area for poisons is locked. LPA did not observe toys and materials available for children’s use. LPA informed licensee to ensure children are supervised at all times during outdoor activities. There is no fireplace on the premises. Licensee stated there are no bodies of water and LPA did not observe any bodies of water during the inspection. Licensee stated there are no firearms, other weapons, or ammunition in the home.
LPA reviewed children’s files. Children’s files reviewed were complete and met regulations.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
