25 | On August 25, 2023 at 10:05 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Edgar Campana conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection and met with the Licensee, Maricela Galvan. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the Licensee. Two daycare children, as well as two cleared and associated adult residents, were present in the facility during this inspection. Licensee accompanied LPA on a tour of the facility. This two story, 5 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath home was inspected. The following areas are used for childcare: the kitchen, the family room, the living room, the downstairs bedroom/playroom and the downstairs bathroom. Off limits areas are the garage, backyard and the entire second floor of the home. The garage is made off limits with a locking door handle and a dead bolt lock on its entrance door while the second floor is made that way with a child safety gate that is securely installed at the bottom entrance of the home staircase. Licensee had previously informed the Department that the backyard is off-limits and stated that a nearby park is used for outdoor activities.
The fire extinguisher (rated 2A-10 BC) smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detectors met requirements. All hazardous items were inaccessible to children. The licensee has toys, play equipment and materials available. Fireplace was properly screened. Licensee’s First Aid and CPR certifications expire on 02/2024. Licensee has required immunizations. Licensee's Mandated Reporter Training certificate expires on 08/28/2024. Facility roster is maintained and was reviewed. The last fire and disaster drills were conducted on May 02, 2023.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. |
