25 | On August 24, 2023, at 9 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jo Ann Legaspi conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection and met with the Licensees Safiyo Jama and Abdi Farah. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted facility entry by the Licensee Jama. The Licensees, one (1) helper and four (4) children were present in the facility during this inspection. This facility is a two (2) story, four (4) bedroom, three (3) bathroom house. Licensee Jama accompanied LPA during this inspection. The following areas used for childcare are: one (1) downstairs bedroom, downstairs bathroom, living room and dining room. The off-limit areas are the garage, kitchen, and top floor. Stairs to the top floor are barricaded. Kitchen cabinets have cabinet locks. The garage’s doorknob is covered with a child safety doorknob cover.
The fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector met requirements. Hazardous items were observed inaccessible to children during this inspection. The Licensee has available toys, play equipment and materials. Licensee states children play in the fenced front yard for outdoor activities. Licensee was reminded that continuous supervision is to be given to children whenever engaged in outdoor activities. No bodies of water were observed on the premises during the inspection. Licensee Jama stated there are no weapons in the home. Licensees’ First Aid and CPR certifications both expire in August 2025. Licensees have required immunizations. Both Licensees completed the Mandated Reporter Training on 03/05/2023. The facility roster is maintained and was reviewed. The last fire and disaster drills were conducted and documented on 06/28/2023.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. |
