25 | On July 14th, 2021, at 1:30PM, LPA, Luigi Gargaro, conducted an unannounced capacity increase visit with the applicant. The one story home was toured and inspected to ensure an environment safe for the care and supervision of children. Present were Ms. Saldarriaga, her cleared and associated spouse, Rene Saldarriaga, her cleared and associated assistant Amanda Diaz and six day care children including her own three children under ten years of age. The fire extinguisher and combination smoke and carbon monoxide detector meet requirements and are operational. All hazardous items were latched/locked and secured out of reach of children. Analyst inquired of the applicant about whether there were any bodies of water or weapons in the home and she replied no.
A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances or exemptions. The home appears to be large enough to comfortably accommodate 14 children. An approved fire clearance by the Chula Vista Fire Department was granted on 07/01/21. CPR and First Aid expire on 11/28/22 for the applicant, her spouse and Ms. Diaz.
Applicant will be using the following rooms for childcare: the kitchen, the living room, the family/dining room area and the second home bathroom. Off limits areas in the home are the two home bedrooms, the home office and the third and master bath, the laundry area and the garage. The bedrooms are made off limits with locking doorknobs and the garage entrance door from the home is made inaccessible with a doorknob cover. The laundry area has all cleaning items on high shelves that are inaccessible to children. The applicant also has a child safety gate at the hallway entrances to the laundry/bedroom area and may use it to make those rooms/areas off limits. However, applicant understands that when those safety gates are left open, the off limits rooms must be closed and locked so that they cannot be accessed by children in care.
The home has a fenced backyard available for outdoor activities. The backyard has an off limits shed that is made that way with an installed padlock. The back yard contains a trampoline the applicant states can be used for the day care. During today's visit, the access ladder was not installed on the trampoline and the trampoline entry door was zippered. |
