32 | Poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, medications and other hazardous items are stored in a locked cabinet and made inaccessible to children by way of cabinet latches/locks and/or placed on high surfaces. Licensee utilizes the the front patio or the local park for outdoor activities. Licensee stated he and his assistant provide direct supervision at all times when children are conducting any outside activities.
Licensee currently only offers child television programming as far as child entertainment. LPA did not observe any children's toys, age appropriate play equipment, play structures, books, and/or non-toxic child safe arts & crafts materials available. Licensee stated he would purchase toys, play equipment and coloring materials and submit verification via email by the end of the week.
The Licensee has a working cell phone. Licensee stated there are no firearms, other weapons, or ammunition in the home.
Facility roster is maintained and was reviewed. LPA reviewed children’s files. Children’s files reviewed were complete and met regulations.
A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances or exemptions. Licensee did not have his personnel's records on file available for review.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living in the home, persons who provide care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
Licensee is currently exempt from the Mandated Reporter AB1207 training. Licensee's assistant Mandated Reporter AB1207 training was completed on 08/19/24. Pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications for both expire on 08/2026. The last fire and disaster drills were conducted and documented on 11/26/2025 respectively. Because the licensee rents the home, proof of landlord notification is required. The LPA observed the Property Owner/Landlord Notification form (LIC 9151) that the applicant confirms was provided to the property owner/landlord. The applicant obtained a signed Property Owner/Landlord Consent form (LIC 9149).
